You're Intuitively Healing Your Emotions

Intuitively Healing Emotions

Shake It Off!

Have you ever noticed your body trembles or shakes involuntarily when you've been frightened? Knocking knees, a quivering voice, shaking hands are common to the human experience.

Your body provides you with this natural way to intuitively heal your emotions when you've come through a scary event.

In Chinese Medicine, shaking is related to the emotion of fear. In Energy Medicine fear that can get stuck in the organs of the Kidney or Bladder. Have you ever experienced or heard of someone being so scared they peed their pants? The muscles can also become involved. If you have a super tight upper trapezius of the neck or the deep abdominal muscle, the psoas can be a culprit in low back pain could be a fearful event in your past that locked these muscles according to Energy Medicine.

Shaking can help to reset your nervous system to release trauma. Trembling is a natural way your body releases residual stress hormones, chemicals,  tension, and discharge excess ENERGY.

Next time you feel shaken up from a frightening experience whether it's physical or emotional, please, please, allow yourself to shake and quake until your body is done, rather than bracing yourself and holding it in.

If you're rocking, jiggling, or gently bouncing a baby when they're crying remember the benefit of the gentle jostling to calm the baby's nervous system and help them release their big feelings they can't verbalize.

Isn't it cool that you intuitively do this?

The words, "shake it off" or "shake it up" have a new meaning when you realize it's a natural way to heal from physical and emotional trauma or shock.

 Rest to Release Big Feelings

What's your energy level today on a scale from sloth to cheetah?

There are days when the to-do list has to wait. Your body insists that you STOP & REST.

Did you know that when you lay down your aura pulls in tighter to help you process recent events? I always think of this in Savasana at the end of a yoga class or when I hear someone say, "Sleep tight."

Your eyes move rapidly to help you process recent events while you're sleeping too. These eye movements can be simulated in your one-on-one healing sessions to aid in releasing a stressful memory.

Your physical body is the key to releasing stress, trauma, and triggers because it's the way to balance your subtle energies and nervous system.

If you've been active, busy, starting fires to get stuff done, or putting out fires that start-up around you, it's ok to allow your energy body, physical body, nervous system, and soul to rest and reset.

Touching Your Head Or Face

I was about twelve when I first noticed this feeling.

I was at the salon for a haircut. There was this moment when the hairdresser shampoo-scrubbed my hair sending ripples of shivers and chills all over my body. Then she'd rinse me clean and gently brush out my hair with pleasant little tugs before beginning the cut. I drifted into a state of sleepy, whole-body peace, and began breathing so softly.

What's this have to do with energy medicine? A lot! Let me explain.

It turns out that on our heads there are numerous energy channels called meridians in Chinese Medicine.

There are also points in Energy Medicine, primarily on the head and face that aid in releasing emotional stress when held gently. They feel great when they are held too.

The skull is made up of cranial bones that move slightly in a gentle rhythm that bathes the brain and spinal cord with nutrients. Holding parts of the skull (CranioSacral Therapy) can remove restrictions allowing the cranial bones to dance as they're supposed to and help in releasing latent emotional stress.

By touching different parts of the head you may be intuitively healing your emotional stress or even trauma! Cool, right?

So here we are in a global pandemic and we're more aware than ever of how often we touch our face. The thing is that these little touches (with clean hands) are an intuitive way of giving ourselves mini energetic healings to reduce stress, anxiety, and can induce feelings of joy or peace.

Here's an example. Years ago, I took my 8-year-old niece to a contra dance. She jumped in to dance with all the adults and became overwhelmed. I watched her across the dance floor when she stopped spinning and stood still as dancers continued up and down the line around her. She stood still in a sea of movement and put her palm on her forehead.

I was so proud of her because she was intuitively calming her frontal brain so she could clear her mind to think. Maybe she was thinking about how to put the sequence of steps together? Perhaps, she was thinking about how to escape the dance floor? Whatever she was thinking, placing her palm across her forehead brought blood to her frontal brain.

On the forehead are emotional stress release points. I've heard these points called "Oh, my God points" because people intuitively hold them when they're overwhelmed, as my niece surely was.

Next time you find yourself touching your face, holding your head, combing your fingers through your hair, know that you're giving yourself mini energetic healing.

Notice when you're holding a baby or pet how you stroke around their ears or across their forehead in a soothing way. There's a reason our furry friends lean into us when we pet their heads and babies drift to sleep.

Isn't it cool that you've been using energy medicine intuitively?
